Designed from the ground up as a counterpart to Star Wars: Clone Wars both visually and narratively, Lightsaber Duels follows the plot line of the animated feature and series closely. Here players will encounter familiar faces representing both sides of the Force, as well as many new ones, as they take on missions on behalf of the Jedi Council, or in spite of it, during the troubling times of the Clone Wars. The highlight of these missions will be the memorable lightsaber duels and the Jedi and Sith players will battle against in them. These duels are designed to mirror as closely as possible the encounters faced in the animated adventures, to the point that they are even introduced by cinematic segments pulled right from the series and feature film. One of the most anticipated uses of the Wii Remote and Nunchuck controller configuration in the history of the Wii gaming system, gameplay in Lightsaber Duels is all about introducing players into the civilized but deadly world of hand to hand Jedi combat techniques. That means no blasters here. As the game's subtitle suggests, whether playing as a servant of the will of the Jedi Council or the Dark Side of the Force, players will wield a lightsaber in one hand and the power of the force in the other. This is where the Wii Remote and Nunchuck come in. Far from requiring players to build up their skills and knowledge of the Force, the goal of the control scheme of Lightsaber Duels is actually designed to make even beginning gamers a force to be reckoned from the first duel they face. The Wii Remote controls your lightsaber through a series of tiered attacks. Left and right motions of the remote equate to light damage, up and down slashes represent medium damage and stabbing motions do maximum damage. The remote's trigger provides a blocking mechanism, while the Nunchuck controls your Force powers. In addition, each character possesses unique combo abilities, but keeping with the simplicity of the control scheme all players need to do is memorize these simple combos to take advantage of their power. As if we didn't get enough Jedi/Sith action with the Wii version of The Force Unleashed, Krome hands us another slice of Lucasfilm pie! Molded after the new Clone Wars film and television animation comes Star Wars, Clone Wars: Lightsaber Duels! Using the Wii-mote for your Lightsaber again is great! Swings are responsive as they were in Unleashed. The clashing of Lightsabers is back and in full force. Krome added a few new clashing mechanics to get that "power struggle" feeling across when you play. Force powers are again mapped to the Nunchuk. Force powers in this game are not so profound as they are in The Force Unleashed. Every character is balanced out with his own style, powers, and moves. The characters and arenas look like they were taken right out of the show! High resolution textures and particles make this game beautiful. Sound effects, voices, and musical score all sound terrific. Yes, the Lightsaber sound effects are still heard in the Wii-mote speaker as they did in The Force Unleashed. The game emulates some of the show's greatest Jedi/Sith conflicts. If you loved The Force Unleashed on Wii, you will definitely want to pick up Lightsaber Duels for the Wii!......
I will begin by saying that this game wasn't as spectacular as I thought it would be. It is not like you are using the Wii remote as a light saber, which was disappointing at first, but once I got into the game itself and started playing, it became addictive. It's a challenge to get the moves down and the game has it's flaws, but it gives you a workout and you can have loads of fun playing by yourself or with someone else. It is much more fun to play against another person because it gets intense, but it is also fun to unlock the characters and see how far you can go in the challenges. All in all, it is a good game to have, especially when you are in need of a game to play when you have friends over.......
First of all I give this game a F minus. If I could I would give it no stars. I went to the store a couple of days ago to buy this game for my 12 and 7-year-old. After about 5 minutes they were both very bored of the game. My 7-year-old didn't even want to play this game any more. In one round his arm was already very tired. My 12-year-old had patience hoping the game would get better. But in a few more minutes he gave up as well. All you do in the game was slashing, blocking, and using the force. Also it said that you only needed a small movement to attack. But if you use a small movement you cannot hit them. [...]......
My son begged for this for his b-day and I finally bought it for him. I was concerned he wouldn't like it as much as the Lego versions, but he loves it! ......
